Umbrella blanks are made with durable 100% cotton, hardwood handles and sturdy spines. You can use Jacquard Textile Paints, Lumiere metallics or Neopaque super opaque textile paints. Fabric paints take about 24 hours to dry thoroughly. For a waterproof umbrella you can spray after it is completely dry with Scotchguard.

Step 2. Mark out your design pieces on paper and then cut out. Lay on umbrella and trace with pencil lightly so paint can easily cover markings. |
Step 3. Paint background in first, that makes it easier to finish detailed designs. |
Step 4. Plan out your colors, carefully painting in each design. Add details after main part is painted |
Step 5. You can rotate the umbrella as you go. Metallic lumiere is a beautiful paint to use on these umbrellas, adding a shimmery effect. |
